Roberts Golden Touch series of tools has just released the GT One Step carpet trimmer RWS171, this carpet fitting tool is based on the Roberts multi purpose wall trimmer. It has the twin adjustable blade system with a brass tucking wheel set at the centre, designed to tuck the cut edge of carpet behined the gripper as it moves forward. It is also fitted with spiked rollers at both sides to track the carpet fibers down as you work. This tool takes the wall trimmer blades and should become a favourite with carpet fitters

Firstly I would like to say first class company, first class service. I usually go through about 2 plastic cutters per year, and the wife would always say 'another £40, can you not get a metal one that will last a bit longer'. So yes it costs slightly more than similar cutters but hopefully it should last. If it had been made by anyone other than Roberts i may have been more sceptical, but the build quality is excellent. Now it took me a little bit of tinkering with the spacers before it worked correctly (my fault, not the cutters), but when it figured it out it was brilliant. I would say it is better suited to large areas with nice long walls.
